Rockies Report: Rox have chance to be #1 seed in the NL
October 3rd, 2009 | by wutae3 |Everything has fallen into place for the Rockies over the past week. First, the Florida Marlins took care of the Atlanta Braves. Second, the Dodgers continued to lose. Now, the Phillies and Cardinals can’t seem to buy a win. A Rockies sweep of the Dodgers not only will give them the NL West crown but it will also propel them to the #1 seed in the National League.
The Phillies and the Rockies currently have the same record. However, the Phillies lost today to those pesky Marlins. So, the Phillies have one game left and the best they can finish is 93-69.
The Cardinals also lost today to the Brewers. They are currently 91-70 and have one game left tomorrow. The best they can finish at is 92-70.
If the Rockies win out, they will have a record of 94-68. The Dodgers will have a record of 93-67 and the Rockies will have the best record in the NL. So, the sweep of the Dodgers just got more important. The NL West and the best record in the NL are up for grabs. Let’s hope the Rockies seize the day and win out. Carpe diem boys.
